Mu Wan Qing brings her mother's ashes back to China for burial in 1926. Mu Wan Qing's real goal is to discover the real reason why her parents divorced and her brother died, even though she acts as if she has surrendered to her father. During this time, there is a coup d'état in the Shanghai army, and Tan Xuan Lin, who was previously oppressed, rises to become the new troop commander. He still feels like he's walking on thin ice, despite his new authority. Many people admire and revere Xu Guang Yao, the Commander of Yue Cheng's son. He does, however, detest the political power struggles. Mu Wan Qing, Tan Xuan Lin, and Xu Guang Yao meet and become friends through a chance encounter. Mu Wan Qing makes a deliberate effort to get close to Xu Guang Yao in order to gain his support in order for her to establish a foothold within the Mu family. In the meantime, Tan Xuan Lin and Mu Wan Qing collaborate to look into an old case that has to do with the Mu family. Together, the three of them go through battles that could end their lives and make them realize how crucial it is to safeguard the nation during these turbulent times.
